Brian trained first as a recording engineer at Green Dolphin Studios in Belfast where he ran a digital recording studio responsible for album production and live recording.

In 2000 he joined the BBC as a trainee technical operator and quickly went into camera operation where he gained experience in peds and handheld on programmes such as Shooting Stars, Top of the Pops and Glastonbury. He has been a freelance camera operator since 2004.
